A storm of Hells Angels brought Missoula a lot of noise but little trouble this weekend, and city officials said Monday they were grateful for the calm.

Mayor John Engen thanked the Missoula Police Department, Missoula citizens and some visitors for a job well done.

?We planned for a great weekend in Missoula, and we got one,? Engen said.

At the regular Missoula City Council meeting, Ward 5 Councilwoman Renee Mitchell said she spent a fine weekend on the golf course. She didn't see any Hells Angels, but she certainly heard them.

?I'm glad there were no major, major problems,? Mitchell said.

Two public hearings on the agenda drew no comments Monday, and the council wrapped up the meeting before 7:30 p.m.

One hearing was on two park maintenance districts, which collect money to keep up city parks. The council will take up the matter again on Wednesday in committee.

It will consider the matter further because City Clerk Marty Rehbein recommended the council disband one district. Collecting such little money from the Russell Park West Park Maintenance District isn't worth the staff time and paperwork, she said.

The city collects some $3,300 - but it collects 40 percent of the money from itself, she said. That's because the district includes many tax-exempt units of the Missoula Housing Authority. As for the Willowwood Park Maintenance District, Rehbein said the city needs a chance to talk with neighbors about the service it provides there.

In other business, Engen proclaimed Aug. 8 through 15 Japan-American Student Conference Week, in part because the 60th annual conference and 75th anniversary of the program takes place at the University of Montana in the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center.

The 2009 budget and capital improvement plan remain on the agenda for public comment.
